You Are the Heart of the Summit

On May 25 and 26, 2026, the Canadian Health and Fitness Institute will gather leaders, partners, policymakers, practitioners, educators, researchers, community builders, and changemakers in Ottawa for the CHFI Summit. The theme is clear: Proactive Health in Action: What Works, What Scales, and What Canada Can Implement Now.

The Summit comes at an important time. Across the country, many Canadians are struggling with sedentary behaviour, loneliness, screen addiction, disconnection, and declining health. These aren’t abstract issues. They show up in families, schools, workplaces, communities, and in the daily lives of Canadians who know they want to feel better but aren’t always sure where to begin.

That’s why the Summit matters. It isn’t another theoretical conference. It is a working forum focused on practical implementation, community activation, measurable outcomes, and real-world models that help Canadians move more, improve wellbeing, and strengthen long-term health.

But this isn’t just about elected officials, health organisations, sports bodies, researchers, and fitness leaders making decisions on Parliament Hill. The heart of the Summit is you—individuals who want easier ways to move together with your community.

You are among many Canadians who want to lift people out of discouragement and into connection, movement, health, and purpose. You know that making this vision a reality isn’t about elite performance; it’s about taking your next step—whatever that looks like for you—alongside others in your community. Because moving together in the natural beauty of this country brings out the best in each of us.

Due to limited seating, in-person attendance for the Ottawa Summit is invitation-only. Nevertheless, we invite everyone to be part of it. Follow the Summit and watch for the insights, stories, and practical ideas that emerge from Ottawa. You’ll learn simple ways to get more active, discover how communities are helping people move together, and find activities for your school, workplace, family, and neighbourhood.

Most importantly, your participation will remind Canada that health isn’t something we build alone.

Movement is physical, but it’s also relational. When we walk, run, stretch, play, and spend time outdoors together, we build a sense of belonging, confidence, and resilience. We become better equipped to show up with energy and hope in our homes, classrooms, workplaces, and communities.
