Canada Needs a More Proactive Approach to Health

We spend enormous energy responding to health conditions after they develop. Preventable health challenges continue to grow, and the systems that shape daily life don’t always make healthier choices easy.

People are aware of the need for healthier lifestyles. What we need now is for leaders across sectors to work together, identify what works, and turn good ideas into practical action.

Bringing Canada’s Health Leaders Together

The CHFI Annual Summit is a non-partisan national forum focused on advancing proactive health in Canada.

Convened by the Canadian Health and Fitness Institute, the Summit brings together leaders from government, healthcare, research, business, philanthropy, sport and recreation, education, community organisations, Indigenous communities, youth, and other sectors that influence how Canadians live, move, work, learn, and age.

Advancing Proactive Health in Three Important Ways

Convening the People Who Can Make Change Happen

The Summit brings leaders from different sectors and levels of Canadian leadership into the same conversation, creating space for relationships, coordination, and collaboration that rarely happen in isolation.

Sharing What Works

Researchers, practitioners, organisations, employers, community leaders, and policymakers bring forward evidence, successful models, emerging initiatives, and practical ideas that can be adapted and scaled.

Building Momentum Beyond the Summit

Insights and partnerships developed during the Summit inform policy, community action, national initiatives, organisational priorities, and CHFI programs such as Let’s Move Canada, supporting the broader goal of helping Canadians to move more.

From Reactive Care to Proactive Health

Without greater coordination and prevention, Canada will continue confronting health challenges largely after they have already taken hold.

The Summit creates a different path.

By bringing leaders together, sharing practical solutions, and advancing ideas that can be implemented across communities, institutions, workplaces, and governments, the Summit builds momentum toward a healthier Canada where more people are supported to move more and live better.
